Another Day in London

Today I spent another day in London.

Dear Reader,

Today I spent another day in London. I didn't feel the pulse and atmosphere of the city as much last time, but this time it really came through. I had a lot of things planned to see, but changed my plans during the day.

We left Broadstairs again at 8am. It was about 2.5 hours again. As soon as we arrived, I hired a bike (the system here is like the Bubi system in Hungary, the only difference is that it is much more expensive. Specifically, I use it for free at home after this. )

My first trip was to Hyde Park, I only cycled to the entrance because I wanted to walk through the park, which I did. The destination was Kensington Palace. I couldn't go inside the palace itself, but I could see some of it through the Diana memorial garden. There were several statues in Hyde Park, but one of the best was The Albert Memorial. Its height and elaborateness alone made me feel awe and admiration. On the walk back, I visited several flowered areas of the park. In my previous post I don't think I wrote about it, but it is incredible how beautifully kept the parks are, how clean they are and how much people take care of them. Not to mention that they take advantage of the recreational opportunities (spending time outside, enjoying the facilities and playing sports). I rented a bike again when I got to the park entrance.

The next destination was Kings Cross Station. The bike ride was really cool It was really cool that the bus lane was and is used by cyclists. Of course, there are several places where there is a bike path. After reading the first Harry Potter book and watching the first movie, I had a great desire to visit this place. Yes dear reader I too fell into the tourist lure and scam trap, but I think it is a cult experience, even if it is padded up. As you might expect there were plenty of people and it all came at a price. Definitely worth a visit. Next destination was Tower Bridge. I don't have to say too much about it. The bridge itself is monumental and very beautiful. Of course, like all sights it was full of tourists.

Finally, I walked past the Thames back to Chinatown, Covent Garden. I took a walk around and finally walked back to the bus through Trafalgar Square.

In total, it was a 12 kilometre walk and 14 kilometres of cycling. I was tired, but definitely just feeling good. I still maintain that it is a very colourful and interesting city. I was impressed by the number of people I saw doing sports (running, cycling ). What I missed: the multitude of museums, several parks and thousands of other places. This definitely makes it worth my return.
